We want to introduce you to the newest member of the Ranch family. Kayla has accepted the position as our Program and Equine Director. We could not be more excited to have Kayla on board! You can meet her April 7 at our Work & Pray Day.
” Horses have been one thing that has remained a constant in my life. From a little girl at the age of 12, to
now owning my own small farm, my heart has always been surrounded by them and their healing spirit.
(Especially one certain palomino quarter horse that has been with me since day one… 20 years now.)
My relationship with Christ has grown significantly over the past few years. With that, I’ve learned to
trust God and always ask for his direction in my life. I started giving riding lessons on my own farm and
realized I could manage to chase a dream I’ve always had…to work with horses! The reward I received
from watching the children grow and fall in love with the sport, the way I had, was motivation enough to
make me want to do it full-time. I prayed and prayed for God to tell me what to do. I opened my heart
and mind to really feel what God wanted for me. I asked him to use me for something more. Through
many small details and big feelings, God led me here to Refuge. I love being able to use my skills, skills He
gave me, to help children heal and learn about the love of Jesus. I get to go to work every day and care
for horses – lots of horses! (And other animals!) I love to work with people, a family really, who are here
for a reason, a reason bigger than us. I have no doubt that God has put me here to teach, but also to
learn and grow as a Christ follower.”
